My name is Pavel Sidorenko, but most people know me as Sid.

Before moving to the United States, I worked in a completely different industry. I owned and operated a service business, managed a large client base, and spent years helping people solve problems. Although the work itself was different, the core idea was the same as it is today: listen carefully, understand what people need, and do everything possible to help them achieve the result they are looking for.

When I came to America, I had to start over. I didn’t have a customer base, business connections, or professional network. In fact, I didn’t know a single person in the United States. My English wasn’t very good, but I knew one thing for certain: I wanted to build a business of my own.

One of my first paid projects wasn’t construction, remodeling, or even handyman work. A homeowner needed help organizing a garage that had accumulated years of storage, boxes, and clutter. I spent the day sorting, organizing, and creating order where there had been chaos. Looking back, that project says a lot about what Mr. Sid Service eventually became. At its core, the company exists to help homeowners solve problems, improve their properties, and take care of the place they call home.

As time went on, I began taking on more projects. Furniture assembly led to TV mounting, ceiling fan installation, drywall repairs, fence repairs, painting, and many other home improvement tasks. Over time, those smaller projects turned into larger and more complex jobs. I learned by doing. I made mistakes, underestimated projects, lost money on some jobs, and spent countless hours learning things that more experienced contractors already knew. Every project became another lesson, and every lesson helped move the business forward.

One of the things that still makes me smile today is the only one-star review I have ever received. The customer wrote that my English wasn’t very good and that I seemed to work every day without taking a day off. Looking back, she was absolutely right. My English wasn’t very good, and I was working every day. I was learning a new language, learning a new country, and building a business from scratch at the same time.

As the business grew, so did the responsibilities. Over the past several years, we’ve completed thousands of service requests and worked with hundreds of homeowners throughout the Sacramento area. What started with small handyman jobs gradually expanded into larger home improvement and remodeling projects. My wife Valentina later joined the business and helped manage customer communication and daily operations as the company continued to grow.

One of our favorite family stories comes from the day our second daughter was born. Valentina was still helping respond to customer messages shortly before labor began. We laugh about it now, but it reflects how seriously we took every customer and every opportunity during those early years. We weren’t looking for shortcuts. We were building something that we hoped would last.

Today, Mr. Sid Service helps homeowners throughout the Sacramento area with repairs, installations, home improvements, and remodeling projects. We still take on many of the smaller handyman jobs that helped build this company, but we also work on larger projects, including fences, gates, decks, pergolas, painting, and remodeling work.

What matters most to me, however, is not the size of the project. It’s the relationship with the customer. My vision has always been simple: to build a company that homeowners can trust whenever they need help with their property. A company that communicates clearly, stands behind its work, and treats every customer’s home with care and respect.

Four years ago, I was organizing garages and assembling furniture. Today, we continue helping homeowners throughout our community while steadily building the business I came to America to create. We still have a long way to go, but we’re grateful for every customer who has trusted us along the way.
